The Journey Begins
Meet Jen.
Good job, decent relationship.
Yet, she sits mindlessly eating in front of the T.V. night after night, becoming more disconnected and more depressed.
Something’s missing.
She can’t put her finger on it.
Jen doesn’t want to go back to therapy – she thinks it’s too much of the same old, same old. But she knows she needs help.
She’s willing to face her underlying fears, be challenged, and get in touch with her body and the messages it is telling her.
Her layers of trauma have kept her frozen for many years.
She’s now beginning to thaw.
“Awareness is the greatest agent for change.” – Eckhart Tolle
Jen, although reluctant at first, was willing to be gently prodded by her equine guides, track sensations, and become more aware and present to her inner light.
Layers of trauma, addiction and betrayal can cripple hope and connection.
Jen has since lost 47 pounds and expresses her hope for the future.
She has a better connection to herself, and when she gets off track is able to recover quicker.
The Process
When we connect initially, I’ll want to know some background information and your goals for therapy.
The first couple of sessions will be exploring your background.
I’ll provide a bit of education on the process of Somatic Experiencing ® and the nervous system, and then actual practicing with orienting to the environment through the senses to establish safety.
It’s important that you feel safe enough to do the work.
Without safety, the system has the potential to become overwhelmed.
The horses may or may not be introduced depending on your needs and wants. Their presence is always there and available. In addition, Somatic Touch will be explored as an option.
I’ve found the touch work with the horses present to be very powerful.
Most importantly, I am here for YOU, to help you discover and uncover YOU!
About Me
My journey in this life has been a winding road of adventure and experiences.
I was an accountant for many years and people used to call me the “Money Therapist.” I’ve also taught school as a Special Education Teacher, and it was through this experience that I decided to become a counselor.
My own history of trauma led me down the road to being trained in Somatic Experiencing ®. This, combined with the connection with my horse, has been profoundly healing for me. So much so, that I couldn’t wait to share the process with the world.
I have a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Adams State University in Colorado.
I’m a Karuna Ki Master (higher form of Reiki), Somatic Experiencing ® Practitioner, and trained in Equine Assisted Therapy through EAGALA and Epona. My memberships include Trauma Healing.org and our local group named, Granite Mountain Psychological Society.
I’ve come to discover that I’m very sensitive and capable of picking up on things that other people might miss. I can cut through the masks and see right to the core of issues. I’m a passionate detective!
